The weather is usually cold at Christmastime, but here's a way to make it cool... very cool! June Christy's 1961 release This Time of Year was a different kind of Christmas album, a complex, adult look at the mixed emotions the holiday season can provoke, with master arranger Pete Rugolo composing intricate, tasteful charts to support June's always immaculate phrasing. Never before on CD, this album offers a bracing antidote to the treacly sentimentality of most holiday releases... The Christmas blues never sounded so good!
