The Whales of Hawaii: Including all species of marine mammals in Hawaiian and adjacent waters

The Whales of Hawaii was written to introduce visitors and residents alike to the marine mammals of this magnificent island system. While humpback whales, which migrate to Hawaii each winter for mating and birthing, are Hawaii's best-known marine mammals, over twenty species swim in Hawaiian waters at some time during the year. There may well be even more species than those listed in this book, for the study of these enigmatic creatures is relatively young and some may still be unknown to us.The pages of this book are filled with many of the finest photographs available, although not all were taken in Hawaiian waters. Where photographs of particular species were not available, carefully researched illustrations and artwork were included instead. Read more
