Details: Celebrate nature and embroider the delights of the garden with the beautiful second book from embroidery artist Emillie Ferris.
Thread painting, also known as needlepainting or silk shading, is a form of embroidery that creates a realistic effect using a single strand of thread and one simple stitch; the 'long and short stitch'. Using this technique you can effectively paint with thread in a similar way to brushstrokes on a canvas.
This richly illustrated guide includes:
• A step-by-step introduction to embroidery techniques, including advice on materials and fully illustrated explanations of the stitches and skills needed.
• Nine exclusive patterns inspired by the garden and Emillie's love of nature, including motifs that she is best known for such as flowers, birds and butterflies.
• High-quality iron-on templates for easy design transfer onto the fabric, with full guidance on how to use them.
Not only are the embroideries sublime, but the book itself is a thing of beauty, with incredible attention to detail, from the exquisite photography to the lavish hardback binding and gold foiling, making it a real treasure for the book lover.
