Old Gold Juniper - 1 Live Gallon Size Plant - Juniperus Chinensis - Drought Tolerant Cold Hardy Evergreen Groundcover

This low-maintenance, hardy evergreen shrub has picturesque coloration. Its dense, upright branches are clothed with golden new growth transforming to emerald-green, sharp needles. All year round this juniper retains its golden glow reaching 3-4 feet tall. Ideally used as a hedge, ground-cover, screen, and windbreak. This fast growing, low-maintenance evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Once mature, shearing is recommended annually to maintain desired shape. Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerant of a wide variety of soils including clay. Intolerant of wet soils. Tolerant of some drought once established. Also tolerant of many city air pollutants. Pruning may help maintain compact habit. Juniperus x pfitzeriana is a hybrid designation that includes certain cultivars that are crosses between Juniperus chinensis and Juniperus sabina. Such cultivars in the Pfitzer Group are sometimes commonly called pfitzer juniper. As the cultivar name suggests, it is noted for its bronze-gold foliage which retains good color throughout winter. Foliage is primarily scale like (adult) with some awl-shape (juvenile) needles.
