The Fagradalsfjall wool sweater for women is a traditional Icelandic design. With the typical lopapeysa pattern seen all the way around the shoulders, the sweater was originally named after the 2021 volcanic activity in the Reykjanes peninsula: “fagra” stands for “beauty,” “dals” comes from the word “dalur” (“valley”), and “fjall” means “mountain.” Indeed, this “mountain in beautiful valley” wool sweater is a classic representing even more of Icelandic culture with its “loðband” fibers (Icelandic lopi wool twisted into threads). The wool twist design sports a thinner weave and lighter feel of the jumper, making the lightweight Fagradalsfjall sweater a versatile choice in any of the many colors available.
